Hi Massi,

Try following examples
http://www.vtk.org/Wiki/VTK/Examples/Cxx#Volume_Rendering

Specifically,
http://www.vtk.org/Wiki/VTK/Examples/Cxx/VolumeRendering/MinIntensityRendering
In this example you have to change the reader to vtkDICOMImageReader.

That is  (Java Code)

        vtkDICOMImageReader reader = new vtkDICOMImageReader();
        reader.SetDirectoryName(dicomSeriesDirectoryName);       
        reader.Update();

Note:
"dicomSeriesDirectoryName" should contain only one series of docom images without any topogram image.
